Social Action & Interfaith Work

OPPORTUNITIES FOR SOCIAL ACTION THAT MAKE A DIFFERENCE

WHAT IS AT UNITY OF POMONA

Unity's Messages are filled with Hope and Joy and Tools to assist you in connecting to the Divine Spirit that is your core essence. We call this the Christ within, the Sacred Presence, and know it is found in the mystical branches of all world religions. From this Indwelling Presence comes wisdom, healing, comfort, strength, imagination, love, understanding, and much more. Join us for our 10:30 am Sunday Morning Service.

Unity's music is a blend of Oldies, New Thought, and Original Hits by our Music Director, Julie Edwards Matanga. Our choir, instrumental and soloist's music is complemented by the beautiful powerpoint images that accompany them. Come and join in the singing!

Meditation sooths the soul and purifies the body, allowing them to rest and refresh to prepare you for your work in the world. Group meditation often takes us deeper. We meditate together in the 10:30 am Sunday Service, at 6:30 pm on Wednesday evenings and at special Meditation Events.

Classes come in many forms, from classical New Thought books to popular Spiritual Development books, to Scriptures from the Religions of the World, to practical ways to Communicate Effectively and Compassionately like HeartMath and NonViolent Communication. As we do this work we build bridges to the inner Mystery and to the outer Other, that result in deep Peace.

Spiritual Counseling is available on a Love Offering basis by appointment with Rev. Jan Chase

Our Spiritual Paths Book Store has a large array of spiritual books on many topics to serve your needs, curiosity, and spiritual hunger.

Unity of Pomona supports families in a number of ways. We are open to restarting our Youth Education Classes at 10:30 am Sunday Mornings. Teens are also invited to regional rallies and local gatherings.

We commune with each other with food and fellowship every Sunday after our 10:30 am Service. Please join us.

We love to gather for service or fun or both and find reasons to come together by hosting special events.

OUR INTERFAITH WORK:

Unity of Pomona and some of our members are involved in a number of Interfaith Groups and Events. We feel that Unity is about creating a sense of ONENESS in our local community and throughout the world, therefore we work to build relationships across many differences to reach Unity's Vision of "Centered in God, We Co-Create a World that Works for All."

Unity of Pomona is a member of Claremont Interfaith Council, and the Upland Interfaith Council where Jan is the vice-president. Jan is also a member of Pomona Valley Religious Leaders and the Southern California Committee for a Parliament of the World's Religions.

Our church hosts the Unity and Diversity Interfaith Gatherings on a rotating basis. These meetings usually occur on the 2nd Sunday of the month from 3-6 pm. Information is on our front page.

Jan is also active in the Interfaith Working Group for Middle East Peace which meets at Claremont School of Theology and sponsors interfaith events like the September Interfaith Walk.

As a member of the Progressive Christians Uniting, Jan and our church are presented with many progressive opportunities, including other interfaith work.

Christmas Giving at Unity of Pomona

Unity of Pomona was Blessed to Give to Many this 2012 Holiday Season

We at Unity of Pomona collected many items as gifts of love and care this Christmas Season. We remember the wisdom that Giving is Receiving and we blessed ourselves by giving a great deal to many people.

For the Binky Patrol who gives to children who have nothing, we collected washable stuffed animals filled with love for them to take with them as they are removed from homes for safety's sake. We also filled our Christmas tree, not with ornaments but with socks for them to keep their feet warm as they travel. We ended up with 115 pairs of socks! We pray for these young ones and their families and see God's Power and Presence watching over them all as the healing work is done.

For Hope Partners we continued to collect nonperishable food items for the many families in need this year. We are continuing this collection and have baskets upstairs and downstairs for your contributions.

We adopted a family of 5 through the Salvation army and thanks to your generous donations, we filled all 5 stockings and three bags filled with gifts and toys. Thank you for your generous spirit of giving. We also donated toys to Brown Memorial Temple and Norma Torres's toy collection.
